A note to our beloved brothers and sisters concerning the rules and the ethics of the humble in front of the Lord,
Moulay Al-Faquir Al-BelghitiAbd Al-Kebir, may ALLAH be with him in his eternal last resting place, amen.
Bismi L-lahi R-rahmani R-rahim
The general principals of the brotherhood
- The devotion towards God secretly and publically.
- The obedience to the prophet of God through speech, as well as, in acts.
- The renouncing to the created in prosperity and in difficulty.
- The satisfaction towards the almighty God in the insignificant, as well as, in the abundance.
- The return to the almighty God in happiness, as well as, in difficulties.
The pillars of the brotherhood.
- Science and works.
- The reminder of the name of God and the teaching.(via discussion)
- The companionship and good behaviors. (ethics)
The rules and the usages to recite litanies of the brotherhood.
- It is forbidden to recite the litanies of the brotherhood without the permission of the master (sheikh), of the responsible, or the one whom the master has chosen for this. Thus the reader will receive the graces which these litanies contain. On the contrary, those who break this law, will not enjoy its benefits.
- The litanies of the brotherhood will not be initiated to whomever is engaged, or is already involved, in reciting another sheikh’s litanies, either alive or dead, unless he, himself is willingly ready to get rid of that.
- The disciple should persevere seriously to the recitation of the noble litany or the Wathifat Al-Hashimiyya, in the morning and in the evening, he should not neglect that because if he/she doesn’t recite what he/she has been committed upon during three successive days without legitimate excuses, then his/her engagement is broken and should renew it.
- ,The disciple should slowly recite hat he has been committed upon, remembering the meaning of litanies, till he obtains its fruits, which is the knowledge of God. All in all, he should not hurry.
- The disciple, while reading the litany with his brothers in groups, should follow their rhythm, should not raise his voice upon the others and he will not take on them neither advance nor delay.
- Once the disciple come in to his brothers, during the time of recitation in groups of the litany, he should sit at end of the assembly and should recite with them. Once finished, he should recite what he missed when he was absent.
- If the disciple doesn’t recite what he has been committed to concerning the litany/Wathifat after the prayers of dawn for whatever reason, the whole day is available for him to do that. In the same way, if he doesn’t recite the litany after the prayers of sunset for whatever reason, then, he can perform it during the whole night.
- If the disciple doesn’t recite what he has been committed upon to recite in the morning, and has been caught by sunset, or the opposite, he should ask forgiveness one hundred times to God. (Astaghfiru Allah)
- It is not allowed for the disciple to be engaged, or be committed to whoever comes from other confraternity. In fact, he should be satisfied with what he has been given, except for the recitation of the Coran, or what is established from the prophet concerning invoking spontaneous prayers. (without any addition)
- The disciple must engage himself/herself and be committed to a specific number of invocations upon the prophet.( peace be upon him)
- The disciple is not allowed to give the litany of the brotherhood by himself to whomever, except if the master or the responsible give him/her the permission to do so.
Rules and usages to respect during the assembly of conjuring upon the name of God
- The disciple should grasp the regular attendance to the assembly of conjuring upon the name of God is a necessity, because this gathering is an imperative condition to be a member of this confraternity. He should not miss it, except for some legitimate reasons.
- The disciple should remember in his thoughts all the time that he is going to the assembly of invocation upon the name of God. Also, that he/she is going there to remember God and to meet his brothers/her sisters. In this way, he/she will obtain a reward.
- The disciple should respect and honor the assembly. Thus, externally by giving the best image and wearing conventional clothes, and internally by having the best intentions.
- Once the disciple attends the gathering, he should start by greeting his brothers, except if he finds them busy remembering God or studying. If they are busy, the disciple should not disturb them, and should stay at the boundary of the assembly. Then when finished from their duties, he should humbly salute them, kissing their hands, as it has been the custom.
- The disciple should remain calm and serene during the gathering and should avoid doing anything unless he obtains the permission from the master, the responsible or the one who leads the assembly.
- The disciple should avoid being talkative and should avoid intervening every time in futile discussions during the assembly. He should stand aside from speaking or being engaged orally when there is no reason to do so, either by speech or by acts.
- The disciple should understand that if he /she doesn’t attend three weekly successive assemblies without a legitimate motive, his/her engagement is broken and should renew it.
- The disciples should be strongly linked to the assembly every week, even if there are just two people. Carelessness as well as abandonment should be avoided.
- If by any chance, there are only just two disciples at the same country (and not more), and they live in this country, and if they are not tied up to the assembly every week without any valid motive, their engagement is broken. They are no more members of the brotherhood till they renew their engagement.
- The disciples should organize the assembly every week based on a maximum of length of two hours. They should not prolong it till annoyance emerges. They should also not be preoccupied with meals, or being troubled by it. They should not make any manners in this area.
- Four elements are a must in the assembly: the recitation of the Coran and the noble litany, the recitation of some poems and lecturing. The order of progress of these steps is a reflected choice, and will be adapted to every section of the brotherhood.
Usages about the relationship between the disciples and the master.
- The obedience of the disciple to the master in all what he orders and forbids doesn’t mean blind submission, but rather a form of delivery to those with competence in their specialties under the rule “no obedience to any creature in disobedience to the creator”.
- The disciple should not oppose his maser in his way of teaching his own ones, since the master makes efforts of personal interpretation and nothing obliges him to reproduce what his predecessors did.
- The disciple considers that resides in his master the completeness and the capacity of teaching and guiding. He is the accomplished master, knowing God and the link to his presence.
- The disciple should love his master with an accomplished love, should not be interested [in his love] to nothing else, except him, in the bottom as well as in the form. In fact, if it is otherwise, he will not benefit from him.
- The companionship of the disciple to his master is in sight of God the almighty, and has no other aim. The intention of the disciple to this companionship must be the knowledge of God and nothing else.
- The disciple should glorify the holiness of his master in his presence as in his absence. He should not accept to hear anything about him that is of the order of blame, of slander or disavowal. He should not keep company to someone who does not respect or recluses him, if this one exceeds the limits of courtesy.
- The disciple should abide by tranquility, reverence and complete respect in the presence of the master, and does not do anything in his presence without his permission.
- To be polite in the discourse with him and shall not call him by his own name, never turn his back on him.
- He should keep company with him, and assist all the time to his council if he is living in the same region. If the disciple does not reside in the same region, he should usually visit him. If it is not possible for him to do so then, he should visit him at least two times a year. It is a moral obligation to our brotherhood.
Usages about the relationship between the disciple and his brothers.
- To love them for God’s sake, the very high, a full love.
- He should behave with the utmost courtesy in their company.
- To strive in their service and to improve his suspicion towards them.
- He should ask about their news if they are absent, visit those who are ill and does his best as much as he can.
- To preserve their dignity whether they are present or absent, he does not slander or lower them.
- To give them advice and kindly stimulates them if the situation requires it. This will be kept secret to preserve their honor.
- To accept their apologies if they do so, and to help them to reconcile if they quarrel.
- He does not take into account the harm they have done to him, and should defend them against the deniers.
- He does not seek to command or to take precedence over them.
- To pray for them in their absence.
The rules and the usages related to the responsible.
- Shall walk at the head of the disciples the one who abound the qualities of precedence, which is the God’s piety, good behavior, service, companionship and good attendance. In fact, he should be recognized for his good, and is at his disposal for the master and under his authority.
- Every responsible shall know that this charge is difficult and needs loyalty. It is not only an honor and a place rather; it is a responsibilitywhose rights and obligation must be fulfilled.
- The responsible should be an example to follow concerning his efforts, his sense of service, his excellent attitude, his engagement and his discipline.
- All the responsibles should give ample explanations and clarifications to those who come to them asking to be a member in the brotherhood, clarifying the obligations and the responsibilities, so that they will know what to expect. If they accept, they will shake hand with him, otherwise; they do not do it.
- Every responsible should do his utmost in his service for the disciples, in his abasement before them, in his elevation of their dignity and in his attention to their regards.
- All the responsibles must be attentive to any misbehavior made to the customs and the rules of the brotherhood. They must warn against them, then punish them and finally correct them. If it is without effects, the ultimate remedy will be the exclusion, they will chase the offender. Who does not do this, betrays us.
- The responsibles should schedule visits to meet and reinforce the links between them and the disciples.
- The agenda of the meeting must be prepared by the persons in charge prior to the announcement of the said meeting.
- Every responsible should organize visits for the disciples under his responsibility to the master’s house for a better continuity and a better communication.
- The responsible is the one in charge before the master about the disciples who are on his side.
- The responsible is the one who leads the weekly assembly. In case of absence, or in case in which he is not available for whatever reason, he should delegate someone he deems fit to assist him.
- The responsible should choose someone whom he judges worthy to assist him for conducting the affairs of the brotherhood.
- The responsible should incite the disciples to watch after their clothes, and to be careful about their behaviors once at the assembly, as well as when they are invited. Indeed, they are the ambassadors of the brotherhood.
- The responsible exercises his responsibility once he is travelling with the disciples, and if the situation makes it difficult to do so , he should designate someone else for this.
- In case of the absence of the responsible or his delegate for any reason, the disciples must choose someone else who leads their assembly and their travel.
- It is the duty of the disciples in general, and the responsible in particular to take great care of their “Zawiya”, concerning cleanliness, service, expenses etc.
- The responsible is the representative of the master. The disciples must, therefore; be courteous with him, protect his dignity and observe his words.
- The responsible and whomever is with him can ,if possible, choose a ^particular moment for a local “Moussem”, (local gathering) and will invite whoever they want.
SO ENDS THIS REGUATION WITH THE GRACE OF ALLAH
